Kayla McBride scores 19 points in Minnesota Lynx’s 90-78 victory over the Wings

The Minnesota Lynx earned their 11th victory of the season on Monday with a 90-78 victory over the Dallas Wings.

The leading scorer for the Lynx in the win was Kayla McBride, who had 19 points.

Four other Minnesota players who scored in double-digits were Alanna Smith (12), Napheesa Collier (16), Dorka Juhasz (11), and Natisha Hiedeman (17).

The leading scorers for the Wings in the game were Sevgi Uzun and Maddy Siegrist, who each scored 17 points.

Minnesota had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included fast-break points (20-8), turnovers (8-16), blocks (5-3), and steals (11-5).

Minnesota also bested Dallas from the free throw line, with the team shooting 95.8(23-24) and the Wings shooting 33.3 (1-3).

Minnesota leads by five at the end of the first quarter.

The game started with the Lynx flying out to a 12-7 advantage with 7:11 left in the opening quarter.

Dorka Juhasz had the hot hand during this time, scoring seven of the team’s 12 points.

Fast forward to the 2:36 minute mark, where Dallas’s Monique Billings hit a seven-foot shot to slice the deficit to two points (20-18).

Minnesota would never lose their lead in the quarter, as they outscored the Wings 7-4 to head into the second with a 27-20 edge.

The Lynx lead by four points at the end of the first half.

Fast forward to the 7:30 minute mark, where Cecilia Zandalasini would make a seven-foot shot to push Minnesota’s lead to eight points (34-26).

Seconds later, the Wings would punch back by going on an 11-3 run to tie the game at 37 with 4:12 remaining in the first half.

Maddy Siegrist led the charge during that time, scoring five of the team’s 11 points.

The Lynx would regain the lead, as the team outscored Dallas 6-4 to take a 43-39 advantage into halftime.

Napheesa Collier powered the offense during that time, scoring four of the six points.

Minnesota leads by three points at the end of the third quarter.

Dallas would have a bounce in their step in the early minutes of the second half, as they went on a 9-4 run to take a 48-47 edge with 7:43 remaining in the third.

Jacy Sheldon had the magic touch during this time, scoring five of the team’s nine points.

Starting at the 6:28 minute mark, the Lynx would answer back by going on a 10-4 run to grab a 57-52 lead with 3:43 left in the third quarter.

Courtney Williams led the charge during this time, scoring four of the team’s ten points and had one block.

Seventeen seconds later, the Wings would score seven straight points to grab a 59-57 edge with 2:14 left in the third.

Sevgi Uzun powered the offense during this time, scoring five of the seven points.

The Lynx would take the lead back by outscoring Dallas 9-4 to take a 66-63 advantage into the fourth.

Natisha Hiedeman was the leader of the run, scoring five of the team’s nine points.

Minnesota takes home a 90-78 victory!

The Lynx would widen their lead in the early minutes of the fourth quarter by going on a 12-2 run to take a 78-65 advantage with 7:17 left in the game.

Natisha Hiedeman and Alanna Smith accounted for eight of the team’s 12 points. Hiedeman also had three assists on the run.

Fast forward to the 3:50 minute mark, where Natisha Hiedeman would hit a shot for two to push Minnesota’s edge to ten points (84-74).

The Lynx would score six more points in the fourth quarter to seal a 90-78 victory over Dallas.
