Boston & Mitchell combine for 44 points in Indiana Fever’s 88-81 victory over Mystics

The Indiana Fever earned their fifth victory of the season on Wednesday with an 88-81 victory over the Washington Mystics. The Fever has now three straight games.

The leading scorers for the Fever in the win were Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell who each had 22 points.

 Caitlin Clark recorded a double-double in the victory, posting 18 points with 12 rebounds.

NaLyssa Smith also scored in double-digits in the game, as she recorded 11 points.

The leading scorer for Washington in the game was Ariel Atkins, who posted 27 points.

Indiana had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paints (38-26), steals (7-6), and rebounds (37-31).

The Fever also had the advantage of shooting as well, as the team shot 50.8 (31-61) and Washington shot 41.4 (29-70). Indiana also had the advantage over the Mystics at the three-point line as the team shot 34.8 (8-23) and Washington shot 32.4(11-34).

Indiana leads by four points at the end of the first quarter.

The Fever jumped out quickly to a 12-6 lead with 4:55 remaining in the opening quarter.

Aliyah Boston led the charge on the run, scoring six of the team’s 12 points.

Starting at the 4:19 minute mark, Washington would answer back by outscoring Indiana 11-9 to slice the deficit to four points (21-17).

Ariel Atkins and Karlie Samuelson saw the basket clearly during that time, scoring all 11 points.

The Fever leads by three points at the end of the first half.

The Mystics would crank up their offense to another level in the early minutes of the first half, as they outscored the Fever 15-11 to tie the game at 32 with 3:37 left in the second quarter.

Ariel Atkins and Karlie Samuelson would continue their hot shooting, scoring ten of the team’s 15 points.

Indiana would find their groove after this by outscoring Washington 14-11 to take a 46-43 lead into halftime.

Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell powered the offense during this run, scoring ten of the 14 points.

Indiana leads by nine points at the end of the third quarter.

The third quarter was the Aliyah Boston show, with her scoring ten of the team’s 22 points, collected two rebounds, and had one block to put the Fever up 68-59 heading into the fourth.

The Fever takes home an 88-81 win!

Fast forward to the 3:25 minute mark in the fourth quarter, where Erica Wheeler hit a jump shot to widen Indiana’s lead to 11 points (82-71).

The Fever would add six more points to their score to seal an 88-81 victory over the Mystics.
